Hartlepool Freemasons Support Meals on Wheels Hartlepool with Community Grant

Hartlepool Freemasons Support Meals on Wheels Through Community Grant Funding

Hartlepool Freemasons are proud to have supported Meals on Wheels Hartlepool, a Community Interest Company (CIC) providing nutritious meals and wellbeing support to residents across the town.

The funding began with a charitable donation of £50 from Haven of Rest Lodge No. 4350, which was matched by a further £50 from the Hartlepool Masonic Benevolent Association (HMBA). The application was then submitted by HMBA to Durham Freemasons Charity, enabling additional funding to be secured in support of this outstanding local organisation.

The presentation was made by W Bro Martin, a member of Haven of Rest Lodge and a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels Hartlepool. Having seen first-hand the difference the organisation makes to people’s lives, Martin was delighted to present the funding on behalf of local Freemasonry.

Representatives from Meals on Wheels Hartlepool, including Billie, Suze, Hollie and Antoni, accepted the donation during the presentation.

More Than Just a Meal

Meals on Wheels Hartlepool provides much more than freshly prepared, nutritious meals.

Their dedicated team also carries out regular wellbeing checks during deliveries, offering reassurance to individuals who may otherwise have little day-to-day contact with others. This simple but vital service helps improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and provides peace of mind for families across Hartlepool.

The organisation currently delivers around 400 meals every week to approximately 110 subscribers, ensuring residents receive both practical support and a friendly face at their door.

As a Community Interest Company (CIC), every penny of profit is reinvested into improving services for the people they support. Their commitment to the community was recognised when they were named a winner at the Hartlepool Business Awards 2025.

Working Together to Support Hartlepool

This grant highlights how Freemasonry works together at every level to maximise charitable support within the local community.

A donation from Haven of Rest Lodge was enhanced by HMBA before being submitted to Durham Freemasons Charity, enabling additional funding to be secured for a deserving local organisation.

By working together in this way, Hartlepool Freemasons are able to increase the impact of local fundraising and ensure more community groups receive the support they need.
